Sauteed Garlic Mushrooms

One of my favourite foods is garlic mushrooms accompanied with fresh chunks of crusty bread for mopping up all the juices. Delicious!!!


Sauteed Garlic mushrooms

Serves: 6

450g/1lb button mushrooms

2 garlic cloves, finely chopped

5 tbsp spanish olive oil

squeeze of lemon juice

4 tbsp fresh flat leafed parsley chopped

salt and pepper

Crusty bread to serve


  1. Wipe clean the mushrooms and trim off the stalks close to the caps. Cut large mushrooms oin half or quarters.
  2. Heat the oil in a large frying pan, add the garlic and fry for 30 sec to 1 minute or until lightly browned. Add the mushrooms  and saute over a high heat stirring frequently until the mushrooms have absorbed all the oil.
  3. Reduce heat to low and when the juices have come out of the mushrooms increase the heat to high and saute until the juices have evaporated.
  4. Add a squeeze of lemon juice and season to taste with salt and pepper. Stir in the parsley and cook for one more minute.
  5. Serve piping hot in warmed serving dishes garnished with a few sprigs of parsley and a few slices of crusty bread.
